My research project is situated within the field of discourse analysis, and consists in a diachronic, cross-linguistic, corpus-assisted analysis of metaphorical representations of migration and migrants in American and Italian newspapers throughout the 21st century. This work is conducted under the supervision of Prof. Maria Teresa Musacchio.
I am also involved in a study comparing predicational and referential strategies employed by the media in the representation of migrants in UK and Italy before and after Brexit. Finally, in collaboration with Virginia Zorzi, I am analysing politicians' social media with the aim of investigating whether the concept of ‘people’ is different across their messages.
