Title: | The Right to Live Here: African Migrants in Spain | |
Abstract: |
The purpose of our paper is to offer a socio-historical introduction to the lived experiences of black and Arab migrants in Spain through the analysis of a varied source of written texts such as essays, novels, memoirs and poetry produced in the last decades by authors like Inongo-vi-Makomé (España y la inmigración negroafricana), Francisco Zamora Loboch (Como ser negro y no morir en Aravaca), Donato Ndongo (El Metro), Rachid Nini (Diario de un ilegal), Agnés Agbotón (Más allá del mar de arena) or César Mbá (El porteador de Marlow). These works will be studied as part of an emergent corpus of Afro-Spanish literatures which can be read against the wider background of Afroeuropean identities and cultures. |
