MIDDLE-LATIN AND ROMANCE PHILOLOGY AND LITERATURE
History of Medieval Latin literature (up to the 14th century), study of Medieval Romance languages and literature (the lyrical tradition from a comparative European perspective, the ancient novel, the short novel, odeporic literature etc.) in all its linguistic varieties (Galician-Portuguese, Occitan, Old French, the vulgar Italian language, Franco-Veneto, etc.). The latter are combined with investigation into the theory and practice of ecdotics, Medieval metrics and rhetoric, and with the history of the discipline. Studies also include modern and contemporary Galician literature (with the help of the Galician Study Centre, which focuses mostly on translation) and Romanian (the relationship with national identity, the development of the literary language etc.).
